OKUN- BENIN PROCESS OF PRIMOGENITURE
The eldest son steps into his father’s inheritance after his Father's seven days burial rites.
The Okun is a symbol of wealth, affluence and long life. A male child of the family of the late man carries the Okun, accompanied by a retinue of crowd made up of family members and friends, they dance to the Emotan square/ statue at the Kings Square in Benin City to pay homage as concluding burial rites .
Thereafter the OKAEGBE (the head of the family) would now share the property of the late man amongst the children.
